Cows to Kilowatts for Africa by Dr. Joseph Adelegan

Slaughter houses around the world rejoice, you no longer have to dump the dirty animal waste into streams, rivers, and landfills. Dr. Joseph Adelegan of Nigeria, came up with a way to convert slaughter house waste into biogas for cooking food. The energy is recovered anaerobically from waste water and solids is a cost-effective solution to clean up what would otherwise be consider just trash. For his efforts as the Founder of the Global Network for Environment & Economic Development Research, he has won the 2005 SEED award. The idea is sustainable and a good way clean up the polluted drinking water. Other than South Africa, the rest of the African continent is not a polluter of CO2 according to this CARMA map. With his extensive background and degrees in civil engineering I’d say he’s more than capable to lead the way for developing countries to prosper and be green at the same time.
